Six injured in clash between two groups

Kannur: As many as five Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) activists and a CPI(M) activists were injured in a clash between IUML and CPI(M) at various places near Taliparamba here today.
Police used grenades and lathicharge to disperse the mobs of both parties at different places. K P Hassan (32), an IUML activist of Ezhom suffered stab injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.
The clash was sparked off following damaging of a bus shelter late last night.
In retaliation, a group of alleged CPI(M ) workers damged the flag post of IUML. In another incident, two motorcycle borne assailants hurled country bombs at IUML activists.
Four IUML activists -- T V Riyadh (24), M K Sahid (26), O T Nizar (28) and A Ayub (30) suffered burn injuries and were admitted to a private hospital here.
In retaliation, IUML activists barged into the house of Haridas, CPI(M) Pariyaram Branch Secretary and attacked his father Kunjambu, who was injuried on his head and was admitted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
A large number of police personnel were camping in the area.
Police said the situation was, however, brought under control.
