Port Blair: Even as the overall percentage of candidates eligible for qualifying certificate from Andaman and Nicobar Islands this year is only 57.08 per cent, 12 schools in far flung Islands have recorded cent per cent results.

''As many as 28 class-X students of the islands have been awarded by the CBSE Al Grade with ten Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA),'' sources in Andaman Education Department said.

Talking to UNI Sanjay Kumar Saxena, Director of Andaman Education Department today said the overall pass percentage this year is more than what was recorded last year. Last year the overall pass percentage was only 53.95 per cent.

According to Andaman Education Department, 5,438 students appeared out of which 3,104 were declared for qualifying certificate (pass) and 2,334 have been declared eligible for improvement of performance (EIOP).

 

''A candidate declared eligible for improvement of performance in any or all the five subjects will be eligible for improvement in any or all the five subjects through subsequent five attempts,'' he said.

 

The grading system has been introduced at secondary school level (class IX & X) from 2009-10 academic session.

 

''The overall percentage of candidates eligible for qualifying certificate from these islands is 57.08 while for the administration schools, the percentage stands at 50.25,'' the Director added.
