(Michigan): American Federation of Muslims of Indian
Origin (AFMI) has finalised the list of top ranking Muslim
students in India and has planned to felicitate them in December
this year. AFMI is awarding meritorious students since last more
              than 15 years.

              "Indian Muslim students continue to
break new records in academic achievement. This was revealed in
the new list of the American Federation of Muslims of Indian
Origin’s top scorers in the standards X and XII board exams from
across India", AFMI officials say in a press statement.
AFMI usually selects top five students from across India in each
category to be honoured at the main event of its Annual
International Convention and Gala Awards Ceremony. But this year
the percentages obtained by the students were so close that the
organization decided to expand the list of class X students to
              ten.

"The students will be honoured at
the XIX Annual Convention of AFMI in Ahmedabad on Dec. 25-26,
              2010", it says.
Another remarkable development is the number of girls among top
scorers. Seven out of the ten top scorers are girls in the
              Standard X category.

Apart from the medals each student will receive a cash award and
in the case of need would be considered for further scholarships.

Top three scorers from each state will also get Gold, Silver, and
              Bronze medals.

"The record breaking scores of India’s Muslim students, year after
year, reveal that AFMI’s 19 year old awards program has developed
a keen sense for academic excellence in the community", AFMI
              official observes.

AFMI has especially urged the NRIs
to attend its annual convention to encourage the budding scholars.

function, can email AFMI's India office at
