Class 11 admission: HC stops Maharashtra from using ‘best five’ formula
Malegaon: In an impressive show of talent Sayyad Afsha Sayyad Yusuf of Pusad scored 99% marks in SSC Board Exams results of which are announced today.
Sayyad Afsha's mark-sheet reads: Urdu 97, Marathi/Hindi 98, English 94, Mathematics 150, Science 100 & Social Science 100. Her total is 639 out of 650 and on the basis of 'Best of Five' criteria, 545 out 550.
Sayyad Afsha is a student of Hazrat Omar Farooque High School in Pusad - a small town in Amravati Division near Nanded.
"My performance is the result of consistent efforts", said a beaming Afsha while speaking to ummid.com on phone.
"With the help of Principal Moosa and other staff of my schools, I had completed my SSC syllabus immediately after giving the 9th exams", she added.
The Maharashtra Education Board announced the SSC results on Internet and via SMS today at 11:00 in the morning. According to the board sources, the hardcopies of the mark-sheets will be given to the students on June 22 at 03:00 in the afternoon.
Though the toppers - overall or subject-wise are expected to be announced on June 22, Sayyad Afsha has emerged as probable topper in this year's SSC exams that were held in March 2010.
In reply to a question, Afsha said, "My message to other students is to try hard and adhere to consistent efforts. If we are doing this, then results come automatically".
Incidentally, Afsha's sister Arshia Tarannum had ranked 2nd in the entire state in 2006 SSC Board Exams. She is now in first year MBBS at JJ Medical College in Mumba. Like her elder sister, Afsha too wants to become a doctor.
"Aapi is my ideal. Ever since she had ranked 2nd in the State, I aspired to repeat her performance. Today I thank Allah that I did what I had dreamt for", Afsha said.
Afsha's father is a pharmacist and her mother, despite being a D. Ed., did not opt for any job. Instead, she decided to be at home and teach her children.
A fortnight ago Jasmin Bano of Corporation Secondary & Higher Secondary School in Thirunelveli, Tamil Nadu had created the history when she topped the TN SSC Board. Like Sayyad Afsha in Maharashtra, Jasmin Bao had also secured centum in both Maths and Science. Her overall tally was 495 marks out of 500.
