Bhopal: In order to monitor Waqf
properties, the record is being computerized in the central Indian
state of Madhya Pradesh.
A total of 15,000 properties worth Rs. 52,000 crores is registered
under the Waqf in the state.
Around 195 cases of encroachment on Waqf properties have been registered. Decisions have been taken to
evict encroachers in 790 cases.
Process of constitution of Waqf Management Committee and district
level Waqf Committees has been sped up in the state. A sum of Rs.
60.40 lakh was recovered as “Chanda Nigrani” in the year 2010-11. An
amount of Rs. 80 lakh has been allocated for the activities of Waqf
Board for the year 2011-12.
The Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has been
constituted with an aim to maintain and monitor Waqf properties in
the state. Minority and Other Backward Classes Welfare Department is
making efforts to remove encroachment from Waqf properties through
district collectors.
