Mumbai: India pacer Zaheer
Khan will be felicitated by the municipal body in his hometown,
Shrirampur, in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
The civic body today announced a cash prize of Rs one lakh to Khan,
who is a local hero among the one lakh-odd population of Shrirampur,
about 40 km from temple town of Shirdi.
The amount would be handed over to Zaheer at the felicitation
function, likely to be held after the IPL tournament, Municipal
Council chief Manda Kamble said.
Like fans everywhere, residents of this town were glued to the TV
sets during the World Cup and watched as Zaheer rattled the
opposition with his yorkers.
After last night's victory, residents burst firecrackers,
distributed sweets and danced on the streets.
