Islamabad:
The residents of a locality in Pakistan's Peshawar city are
against re-building of a police post blown up in a car bomb blast
as they fear it could again lead to a terror attack.
The police is facing a piquant situation as the residents of
Matani are opposed to the setting up of the police post in the
market and want it away from the populated area.
Three policemen had died in the car bomb blast.
"Militants target police and activists of peace bodies but
shopkeepers and residents of the surrounding areas suffer the most
in such attacks," Dawn quoted an elderly resident as saying.
He said that innocent people suffer in the bomb blasts.
"We are not opposed to the police post but want them to shift the
post away from the residential area for their own as well as
common people's safety," he added.
There have been a string of terror attacks in Pakistan since the
army took on the terrorists entrenched in the mountainous
Waziristan region.
