New Delhi:
A day after he dragged in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home
Minister P. Chidambaram into the 2G spectrum scam, former
communications minister A. Raja Tuesday clarified that he did not
intend to frame anyone.
"Main kisi ko phasana nahi chahta tha (I had no intention of
framing anyone)," Raja's lawyer said on his behalf when the names
of Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram were taken in the Central Bureau
of Investigation (CBI) special court presided over by Judge O.P.
Saini.
He also said Raja's statement was misrepresented by the media.
Raja's lawyer Sushil Kumar had Monday said the 2G spectrum
transactions were approved by Chidambaram, who was then finance
minister, in the presence of the prime minister.
Raja's comment was criticised by the Congress which said it cannot
rely on the comments of an accused.
