CBI raids
ex-legislator's houses in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday conducted
searches at houses of former Madhya Pradesh legislator Kishore
Samrite in connection with the fake rape case he had lodged
against Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court March 7 slapped a
penalty of Rs.50 lakh on former Samajwadi Party legislator Samrite,
who had filed a habeas corpus petition alleging that Rahul Gandhi
had raped a girl from Amethi and was keeping her along with her
parents in illegal detention since 2007.
While dismissing Samrite's petition, the court also ordered the
CBI to register a case against him.
The court directed that Rs.25 lakh be paid to the girl, Rs.20 lakh
to Rahul Gandhi and Rs.5 lakh to Director General of Police
Karamvir Singh for bringing the girl and her parents in the court
within the time allowed.
The amount would be deposited within one month with the court
registrar, the court directed.
The CBI team raided Samrite's houses in Bhopal and Lanjhi in
Balaghat district, around 400 km from the capital.
Sources said the raids yielded some important documents from
Samrite's premises.
