Lucknow:
In a shocking incident, a man, apparently upset with his wife for
not bearing a baby boy, shot her and their five-year-old daughter
dead in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district Tuesday, police said.
Avanish Kumar shot his 27-year-old wife Sona Devi and
five-year-old daughter Harshita with his double-barrel gun in
village Balapur Islampur in the district, 390 km from here.
Police were called by neighbours when they heard gun shots from
inside the house.
When a police team reached the crime scene, they saw the
mother-daughter lying in a pool of blood and Avanish sitting
nearby with his double barrel gun, for which he held a valid
licence.
He did not offer any resistance when police arrested him but he
told them that he tried to shoot himself too but could not.
The couple had two more daughters.
