E. Ahamed re-elected as IUML president

Kozhikode (Kerala): Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed was unanimously re-elected as the all-India president of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) at its national general council meeting that concluded here Sunday.

A total of 74 representatives from 14 states took part in the national executive meet that gave the green signal for another term for Ahamed.

State Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty also got a promotion when he was given the post of the treasurer of the national party.

Also elected as secretary of the national leadership was former state education minister E.T. Mohammed Basheer, currently a Lok Sabha member from Kerala.

In all, 400 leaders from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Puducherry and Bihar took part in the national general council meeting.
