India Post offers stamps bearing your picture

Friday February 03, 2012 08:07:29 AM, IANS

Mumbai: In a unique initiative, the India Post will offer stamps printed with your picture on it, an official said.

"The offering, on first come first serve basis, will be launched in Mumbai during the Kalaghoda Cultural Festival starting Feb 4. Till Feb 11, Mumbaikars can choose from over 17 template designs for printing the stamps with their pictures that can be even used as an official one," Assistant Post Master General Shriniwas Vyavahare told IANS.

"We had introduced this offering in a New Delhi exhibition last year. Looking at its popularity we organised a similar initiative in Pune last month and are now organising it in Mumbai," he added.

Vyavahare said that the stamps can be used for gifting purposes and can have headshots of friends, relatives and family members on the stamps.

A 12-stamp sheet can be purchased from the India Post stall at the festival for Rs.300.
