'Start-up Weekend' in Hyderabad from Friday

Thursday November 15, 2012 10:10:21 PM, IANS

Hyderabad: Progress Software India, a global software company, is hosting the 'Start-up Weekend' from Nov 16 to 18 at its campus here to create and nurture a start-up ecosystem in the country.

The winning ideas will get an entry to compete at the Global Start-up Battle scheduled to be held in Rio, Brazil.

The Startup Weekend will be hosted in over 100 cities with more than 10,000 participants and 1,200 teams across the globe and the winning idea will get an opportunity to compete on a global platform, said a company statement Thursday.

The participants will pitch their ideas Friday and the top 10 pitches will be selected by voting. The teams will be formed on the basis of selected ideas.

The selected teams, over the next two days, will interact with mentors, target and acquire customers and try to build a minimum viable product.

All the teams will get an opportunity to make presentations before a team of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and angel investors, who will select the top three ideas.

"This platform provides a great opportunity to all the participants to get a global exposure," said Ramesh Loganathan, vice-president (products) and centre head of Progress Software.
