Aligarh: India can earn
more than $50 billion by exporting value added pet food to the
global market by recycling slaughter house waste products, an
official said here Saturday.
The government has taken a lead on the issues like climate change,
conservation of bio-diversity and global peace, Dr. M. Salahuddin,
director, ministry of environment and forests said here addressing
a meet.
The country can earn $50 billion by pet food to the global market
by recycling slaughter house waste products, he said.
Slaughter house wastes were seen as a major source of pollution in
cities. But experts now feel if they are recycled as feed for
animals, it could be a profitable industry.
Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (retd.) Zameer
Uddin Shah, asked the scientists to produce good research for the
betterment of the mankind. He said that meat industry in India was
linked with Muslims and the AMU faculty should carry more works on
these slaughter houses.
Prof. S.M. Ilyas, Project Director, National Institute of Rural
Development, Hyderabad said that in coming days, bio-products will
be more valuable than the meat.
