Polls in three northeastern states in
February

New Delhi: Tripura
will go to the polls Feb 14 to elect its state assembly, while
Meghalaya and Nagaland will have polling Feb 23, the Election
Commission announced Friday.
Results of all three states' assembly polls will be announced Feb
28, said Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath here.
In Tripura, the notification will be issued Jan 21. The last date
for filing of nomination papers will be Jan 28 and scrutiny will
take place Jan 29. The last date of withdrawal of nomination
papers will be Jan 31.
In Meghalaya and Nagaland, the notification will be issued Jan 30.
The last date for filing nomination papers is Feb 6, and scrutiny
will take place the next day (Feb 7). The last date for withdrawal
of nominations will be Feb 9.
All three states have 60 assembly seats each. The predominantly
Meghalaya has 55 seats reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST),
while Nagaland has 59 reserved for the STs. Tripura has 10 seats
reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 20 for the STs.
