Aligarh: Amit Chawla, a
student of Department of Electronics, Aligarh Muslim University
has secured second rank in the prestigious GATE-2013.
Professor M. Salim Beg, Chairman, Department of Electronics
Engineering said that two final year students of the department
have brought laurels to the University by securing ranks in GATE.
He said that Amit Chauhan has succeeded in securing second
position in All India Ranking while Hamidah Sultan has secured
48th position in the national level examination.
Prof. Beg said that the success is impressive in view of the fact
that nearly 10 lakh candidates appeared in the exam.
He said that
several students of the department have recorded success in the
prestigious examination.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India
examination that tests the comprehensive understanding of various
undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.
GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of
Science and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT
Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of
the National Coordination Board, GATE, Department of Higher
Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD),
Government of India.
The GATE results are used for
admissions to various post-graduate programmes as well as by
Public sector units for employment screening purposes.
