Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray was on Tuesday presented with the Holy Quran. The Muslim Holy Book was offered to the Maharashtra strongman as Diwali gift by MNS vice president Haji Arafat Haji Arafat.
Along with the Holy Quran, Haji Arafat also presented to Raj Thackeray a digital Quran reader and the audio version of the Holy Book.
"The digital Holy Quran reader is user-freindly and can be used by small children to elders with equal ease. The motive behind offering the Holy Book - both print and digital version, to Raj Thackeray is to provide him an opportunity to understand the teachings of Quran, and hence Islam", Haji Arafat said.
Raj Thackeray was earlier offered the Holy Quran along with its Marathi translation as birthday gift in 2010 when he turned 43.
Haji Arafat said the the digital version of Quran which is available in 'pen form' is distributed in India by Yasser Arafat Charitable Trust.
He said he has planned to select educated Muslim youth for marketing and sales of this digital Quran across the country.
"The idea is to create employment for educated Muslims. Also, the profit earned by the sales will be given to needy Muslims as scholarships for education and other such purposes", he added.
