Mumbai: Stating that Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has exposed the real agenda of the fascist Hindu forces by his anti-Muslim rants, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi Monday said the BJP government should take action against him if it did not agree with him.
"The real agenda of the fascist Hindu forces is being exposed now. Their ideology is to promote hatred. Shiv Sena is not just an ally of BJP, but they are also sharing power. Now, does the ruling party (BJP) share the same views?" Owaisi asked.
"The BJP cannot disassociate saying it's an individual opinion and he (Raut) is a fringe element. They should take action. He is not a fringe element. He is the main element", he said.
Owaisi said that the comments of Raut are also an embarrassment to union ministers Najma Heptulla and Muqtar Abbas Naqvi as their voting rights are also sought to be revoked if one goes by Raut's argument.
In the article published in the latest issue of Saamna, Raut, who is also a Rajya Sabha member, addressed All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Owaisi as "Owaisi bhai from Hyderabad" and said: "As long as Muslim votes are for sale, the community will remain backward and its leaders will become rich."
In the article written in Marathi, he said it was because of this that Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray had said "voting rights for Muslims should be taken away".
The statement has received flak from all across the political spectrum. While the Congress demanded cancellation of Raut's Rajya Sabha membership, Lalu Prasd Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar accused the Shiv Sena of dividing the nation.
Lalu Prasad said that parties like Shiv Sena always play communal politics.
"Shiv Sena's leaders like Raut say such things to polarize votes and create hatred against minority," he added.
Lalu Prasad also said that leaders like Raut should know that there were no takers for their stand in the country.
