Mumbai: The last date to apply for Hajj 2018, which was earlier set as Thursday December 07, has been extended to December 22, 2017.
"The last date of submission of Haj Application Form has been extended up to 22nd December, 2017", the Haj Committee of India official said while talking to ummid.com.
The Haj Committee of India had released the Hajj 2018 plan in the first week of November. According to this schedule, the last date to apply for Haj 2018 was December 07, 2017. The Central Haj Committee started receiving Haj Application Form from November 15.
The Haj Committee of India is still to finalise how many applications it has received so far. However its data released two days before said a total of 117,000 Muslims have applied through online mode whereas some 47,000 applications are submitted offline.
This is a sharp decline if compared with last year’s applications when more than three times the Haj Committee of India quota were received.
Sources at various State Haj Committees said the Haj Policy 2018 has made Haj travel through Haj Committee of India difficult and expensive instead of easing as claimed by the Minister of Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
On the other hand lesser number of Muslims this year are opting for embarkation points other than Mumbai, Delhi and other metro cities.
Moaning that the cost of Haj travel will be substantially high if they choose Aurangabad embarkation point, more and more pilgrims from the city are opting Mumbai as the preferred location to start their religious journey.
“Cost of Hajj travels is going up by about 30 to 32,000 if I choose Aurangabad as the embarkation point. Hence I have opted Mumbai as the preferred location of my father’s haj flight”, Qurban Baig, whose parents are planning haj this year, says while talking to ummid.com.
Aurangabad is one of the 21 embarkation points in the country. Of them 03 are in Maharashtra. Besides Aurangabad, the other two hajj embarkation points in Maharashtra are Mumbai and Nagpur.
The Haj embarkation points are a blessing for the haj pilgrims as they help them in avoiding Aurangabad to Mumbai journey by road. But, the huge difference between the airfares from the two embarkation points is forcing them to choose Mumbai, instead of Aurangabad, as the embarkation point.
Meanwhile, the Haj Committee of India has enabled the link for the applicants to check Cover Number for Haj 2018.
There are tow options for this. One is by entering Passport Number and the other is directly enter Haj Cober Number received while submitting the application to confirm registration.
Haj Cover Number is important as all communications, Haj Draw or Qurrah and Hajj accomodation and travel arrangements are made using Cover Number as reference.
Applicants should note that Hajj 2018 Fligh Schedule from all embarkation points will be released by the Haj Committee of India only after the process of the Haj Qurrah is completed.
