Malegaon: In a glittering ceremony to match the occasion, Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC) Mansoora Malegaon on Tuesday in the first convocation of Abdul Latif Ali Al Shaya Faculty of Engineering & Technology a total of 18 graduates were awarded degrees upon completion of four-year engineering courses.
The young engineering graduates received their degrees from Arshad Mukhtar, Chairman of Jamia Mohammadiya Education Society (JMES), the organisation which runs Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC), Dilip Swami, Additional Collector Malegaon, and other guests.
The foundation stone of Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC) was laid on Friday June 25, 2010 after Jamia Mohammadiya Education Society (JMES), which till then Jamia Mohammadia Mansoora for Boys and Kulliya Aisha Siddiqa for Girls since 1978 along with Mohammadia Tibbiya College at Mansoora, decided to enter into technical education.
After construction of the college building and other infrastructure, and subsequently obtaining the needed government approval, the college started academic activities in 2012-13.
The 18 founder-batch students, who were awarded Savitribai Phule Pune University degrees at the first convocation ceremony on Tuesday January 31, 2017, are from Civil, Mechanical and Electrical streams.
Though the college has in-take of 300, students less than its total capacity took admission in the first year. The college however gradually took pace and today hardly any seat is vacant.
"Today is a historic day for the country in general and Mansoora fraternity in particular when the students of Abdul Latif Ali Al Shaya Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC) are graduating as engineers", Arshad Mukhtar, Chairman of Jamia Mohammadiya Education Society (JMES), said in his convocation address.
"I am sure these students will continue their journey in higher eduaction, will complete masters and contribute in building a prosperous country", he added.
While reminding the students the objectives and aims behind the establishment of Abdul Latif Ali Al Shaya Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Arshad Mukhtar advised the young graduates to be honest and good human being.
"The country and the world today do not need professionals who are mere doctors and engineers. The country and the world need today need the doctors and engineers who are also a good human being and who along with their professional skills also realise their social responsibilities", Arshad Mukhtar said while quoting verses from the Holy Quran.

Additional Collector of Malegaon Dilip Swami in his speech congratulated the young graduates and urged them to realise and promote in the society the importance of science and research.
"The country can't prosper unless we realise the importance of science and technology. Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC) Mansoora has certainly opened the gateway of opportunities for the people of Malegaon and neighboring cities and towns", he said.
Using the occasion to spread the message of "Polio Free India", Swami urged the young engineering graduates to run campaign against blind faith and superstition.
"Efforts are underway to eradicate polio and other such diseases from the world and the country. But, such efforts are undermined by superstition and blind faith. It is your responsibility to create awareness against such evils", he said.
Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC) is named after Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi, renowned scholar and author who in the year 1976-77 revised the century-old Madrasa syllabus and established Jamia Mohammadia Mansoora for Boys and Kulliya Aisha Siddiqa for Girls in 1978. He was the first to introduce a new syllabus embeded with religious and modern and scientific subjects to be taught in these two Madaris.
The Madrasa syllabus revised and introduced by Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi proved so instrumental for the students that they soon became eligible for admission to Jamia Islamia Madinah Munawwera in Saudi Arabia. Year 2009 was a landmark year for Jamia Mohammadia Mansoora when 18 of its students ranked from 1st to 18 positions in the Jamia Islamia Madinah Merit List.
Few years after establishing Jamia Mohammadia Mansoora for Boys and Kulliya Aisha Siddiqa for Girls, Maulana Mukhtar Ahemad Nadvi established Mohammadiya Tibbiya College and Assayer Hospital, which soon became a pioneer and leading name in the field of unani medical system.
