Nashik Graduates Constituency registers 54.38% voter turnout

Nashik: The Graduates constituency of Nashik division Friday registered 54.38 per cent voting for the Maharashtra Legislative Council.

Polling for Nashik division Graduates constituency began peacefully at 353 polling centres in five districts of the division, including Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Ahmednagra and Jalgaon.

Nashik district registered 48.06 per cent polling, Ahmednagar 56.61, Jalgaon 58.01, Dhule 61.39 and Nandurbar 62.06 per cent.

The fate of 17 candidates, along with BJP candidate Dr Prashant Patil, Congress-Nationalist Congress Party front candidate Dr Shudhir Tambe and CPI (M) candidate Raju Desle was locked in the ballot boxes.

The real contest is between BJP's Dr Prashant Patil and Congress' Sudhir Tambe.

The counting of votes will take place at central warehouse of Ambad on February 6.
