Asian Games 2018: Athletes Muhammad Anas, Fouaad Mirza and Hima Das on Sunday added three more Silvers to India's Medal Tally at 18th Asian Games 2018 which is underway in Jakarta, Indonesia.
While Muhammad Anas won Silver in Men’s 400m Final, Hima Das bagged Silver in 400m Women's Final. In the process, Hima Das broke her own record she set on Saturday to win Silver.
Earlier on Sunday, Fouaad Mirza became the first Indian to win an Asian Games individual Medal in the Equestrian event since 1982 before guiding the country to a second-place finish in the team competition.
Mirza won the Silver Medal in individual jumping with a score of 26.40, while Japan’s Oiwa Yoshiaki clinched the Gold with 22.70.
Overall, three Silvers have come from athletics and two more from equestrian on Sunday. There could have been a Bronze too had it not been for a rare disqualification for Govindan Lakshmanan in the 10,000m final.
At the end of Day 8, India have 36 medals and are 9th on the standings. This includes 07 Gold, 10 Silvers and 19 Bronze.
China with a Medal tally of 139 continues to be on top of the chart followed by Japan (121 Medals), South Korea (93 Medals), Iran (40 Medals), Indonesia (50 Medals), North Korea (23 Medals), Thailand (49 Medals) and Chinese Taipei (33 Medals).
The countries which follow India on the standings are Uzbekistan 27 Medals, Kazakhstan 41 Medals, Hong Kong 25 Medals, United Arab Emirates (UAE) 12 Medals, Bahrain 08 Medals, Mongolia 10 Medals and Philippines 13 Medals.
The 18th Asian Games 2018, also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games, was inaugrated on August 18 and will continue till September 02, 2018.
