New Delhi: Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ram Gopal Yadav on Friday said a Hindu killed another Hindu in Kasganj but the blame was put on a Muslim.
"Maar kaun reha hai? Ilzam kis par lag reha hai? Hindu ne maara Hindu ko, aur Musalman ke uper maarma ka ilzam rakh diya.. (Someone else is actually killing while the blame is put on others. A Hindu killed another Hindu and a Muslim was blamed.)", Yadav said while talking to reporters outside parliament on Friday.
"Jin logon ne waqai goli chalai, aur jo waqai qusoorwar hai.. in sab baton ka video aa chuka hai... sab kuch samne hai. uske bawajood Musalmano par ilzam lagaya ja reha hai aur unhi ko giraftar kya ja reha hai (There are videos available to prove who were the people involved in the shooting. Instead of this Muslims are blamed and arrested)", he added.
SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav also alleged that Muslims are attacked and their properties destroyed while the police is extending support to the perpetrators.
He also demanded that the Muslims arrested on false charges should be released and the real culprits should be booked.
"We raised the similar demand in the parliament. But, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) members created ruckus fearing the conspiracy will be exposed", he said.
Ran Gopal Yadav and other opposition members had on Friday raised the issue of Kasganj riot in Rajya Sabha - the Upper House of Indian parliament.
Clashes between Hindus and Muslims erupted in Kasganj on Republic Day when Muslims, celebrating the national festival, were interrupted by the VHP and ABVP activists.
According to videos and eyewitnesses accounts, Muslims were hoisting Indian Tricolor at Shaheed Abdul Hameed Chowk when VHP and ABVP activists came on motorcycles. They were carrying saffron flags and raising anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim slogans.
Clashes followed soon later and a Hindu Chandan Gupta was killed in shooting. Police later arrested Salim Javed, a local Muslim, on the charges of shooting to death Chandan Gupta. Two of his brothers have also been named in the killing.
"(Saleem) fired from either the roof or the balcony of his house, as per statements of some witnesses. Some weapons were recovered in the last two days and we are hoping to do a ballistics match between them and the bullet found in Chandan's body," said Anand Kumar, a senior police officer in charge of law and order.
