Mumbai: The Police Custody (PC) of Nowhera Shaikh, Heera Gold Managing Director and Founder President of the All India Mahila Empowerment Party (AIMEP), is ending today i.e. Saturday November 03, 2018 and her lawyers are trying everything in their hands to get her released on bail.
"We have everything ready and all the required papers in hand to get Nowhera Shaikh released on bail. Her PC is ending today and we are trying our best so that she is released on bail as early as possible", the lawyers said.
Nowhera Shaikh was first arrested on October 15 in New Delhi and brought to Hyderabad the next day. She was granted a conditional bail by Nampally Court on October 24. But Mumbai police was in Hyderabad to arrest her even before she could come out of the prison. Mumbai police arrested her based on a number of complaints filed against her in the metropolis.
Nowhera Shaikh's lawyers and her brother Ismael Shaikh in an audio message circulated on social media said that they were caught off guard by the arrest of Heera Gold Managing Director by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police from Hyderabad.
"She was taken from Hyderabad to Mumbai in the wee hours. We were waiting outside the prison for her to come out. But the Mumbai police took her to airport from backdoors. Neither her lawyers nor the family members were informed", Ismael said.
"It is a political conspiracy to stop her from contesting the Telangana state elections", he alleged.
Ismael also took exception to the word "notorious criminal" used for Nowhera Shaikh by Hyderabad police in its press briefing soon after her arrest. "No charge against her has so far been proved. Using such kind of language under such a situation therefore is unfair", he said.
Meanwhile, in Mumbai there was a high drama outside the court where Nowhera Shaikh was produced after her arrest. The area surrounding the court was filled by a number of Nowhera Shaikh's supporters and when they hackled Shane Ilahi, the lawyer who is helping the "investors" allegedly duped by Nowhera Shaikh.
"We are with Nowhera Aapa. This man along with others is misguiding some of the investors because of which Nowhera Aapa is behind bar. We want to submit to the court that Nowhera Aapa is innocent and should be released as early as possible", they said while talking to reporters.
Nowhera Shaikh's laywers, fearing she could be arrested again by police from other states, have filed anticipatory bail petitions in courts of Andhra Pradesh. It is also learnt that Nowehra Shaikh's counsels will soon file similar petitions in another states.
