Mumbai: Even as protests in India against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) refused to die down, different groups and international organisations have announced to hit streets Sunday January 26 against the trio in as many as 18 major cities of the world.
According to announcements and appeals posted on social media sites, protests against CAA-NRC-NPR will be held in front of the Consulate General of India in New York, United States Sunday - the day coinciding with 71st Republic Day of India.
Besides New York, protests against newly amended citizenship law and proposed NRC in India will also be held in Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Austin and Houston in Texas, Atlanta in Georgia, San Francisco in California and Harvard.
Protests against CAA-NRC-NPR have also been planned in multiple locations of Germany and Canada.
Messages taking round on the internet said anti CAA protests on Republic Day will be held in Montreal, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver and Windsor cities of Canada.
Similarly, protest against CAA-NRC-NPR will also be held in Frankfurt, Berlin, Willi-Graf-Straße and Hamburg cities of Germany.
"Indians in Germany plan to mark Republic Day to protest against discrimination and brutality in this building in Hamburg. Ever since WWII, the building has been a symbol of resistance and the place of all kinds of emacipatory politics", Yogendra Yadav of Swaraj India wrote on Twitter.
Anti CAA-NRC-NPR rallies are also planned in Melbourne, Australia; Helsinki, Finland; Cape Town, South Frica; and a protest rally and march to the Indian High Commission in London.
Along with these major cities of the world, anti-CAA-NRC-NPR rallies are also planned in more than 100 cities of India. Prominent among them are: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Patna, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Vijayawada, Ranchi, Pune, Chandigarh, Bhiwandi, Mysore, Azamagarh, Chennai, Bilaspur, Lucknow, Dhule, Jalgaon and Malegaon.
Kerala has also announced to unfurl National Flag in mosques and reading of Pastoral letters in churches across the state. People in Kerala will also form a 620-km human chain on Sunday.
Shaheen Bagh in Delhi where women are protesting against CAA-NRC-NPR since last 39 days have announced to organise a Flag Hoisting ceremony on the protest site to mark the 71st Republic Day of India.
