'Unbelievable, Shocking': Veterans, Twitter erupt as Modi denies intrusion by China

The meeting not only has failed in clearing the doubts but has also created more questions leaving even the Army Veterans in shock and disbelief

New Delhi: The All Party Meeting on China called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday was expected to clear the confusion surrounding and answer the questions haunting the minds of Indians since May 5 when the first report of crisis in Galwan Valley and Ladakh had surfaced.

However, the meeting not only has failed in clearing the doubts but has also created more questions leaving even the Army Veterans in shock and disbelief.

"Today is very unfortunate Day !! I thank my three stars that I am retired n my son in not in the Army!" Lt Gen Rameshwar Roy, Lieutenant General (Retd) Indian Army, Former Corps Commander Jammu & Kashmir, Director-General Assam Rifles. Chief-of-Staff Southern Command, wrote on Twitter.

Responding to him, Maj Gen Satbir Singh, Chairman Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement & Advisor, United Front of ESM (JM), Veteran of 71 War(Western Front), Senior fellow at IDSA & Commandant SSC Allahbaad, wrote, "Gen Roy ur comments are very light. I am aghast to hear 4m hon'ble PMO that no one has entered in our territory across LAC and that no post is in occupation of enemy. There has been no combatant eqp, weapon systems missile systems aircrafts introduced in2 service in last 6 years."

Lt Gen Prakash Menon, Director, Strategic Studies, Takshashila, Prof Emeritus TDU,Adjunct Prof, NIAS, Bangalore. Fmr Mil Adviser, NSCS, in his response said the Prime Minister has cotradicted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Responding to PM Modi's speech made during the all party meet on China, Colonel (Retd) Ajai Shukla, who was the first to write about the Chinese army capturing Indian territory, tweeted, "Did I see prime minister @narendramodi redrawing the Sino-Indian border on TV today? Modi said nobody entered Indian territory. Has he conceded to China the Galwan River valley and Fingers 4-8 in Pangong Tso -- both on our side of the LAC -- and where Chinese troops now sit."

Meanwhile, #ModiSurrendersToChina started trending on social media site Twitter this morning after Rahul Gandhi in his tweet wrote "PM has surrendered Indian territory to Chinese aggression".
