Campus Front of India to be launched on Nov. 7
Friday, November 06, 2009 04:00:01 PM,
Pervez Bari |
Bhopal:
The Campus Front of India, a neo-social student’s movement which
aims to empower the campuses by developing a new generation of
activists, will be formally launched at New Delhi on November 7.
According to a Press release issued by
Mohammed Yusuff, General Convener National Students Convention, the
official launch of Campus Front of India will be held at the
“National Students Convention” at the auditorium of India
International Centre, New Delhi. Delegates from various states will
be present in the convention. The first session will be business
session where state and National Committees will be elected. E.M.
Abdur Rahiman – Chairman, Popular Front of India, A. Sayeed, General
Secretary, Social Democratic Party of India; and Gautam Navlakha -
Consulting Editor, Economic and Political Weekly will address
students on the occasion.
In the afternoon session, there will
be a seminar on the theme “Students for Social Change”. Guest
speakers for the seminar will be Prof. S.A.R. Geelani of Delhi
University; Prof. Tanikha Sarkar of Jawaharlal Nehru University;
Prof. Shams-ul-Islam of Delhi University, New Delhi, Prof. P. Koya,
the Chief Editor, Thejas Daily, Kerala; and Sandeep Singh,
president, JNU Students Union, New Delhi.
The release said Campus Front of India
will be in the forefront in leading students to take up social
issues, strive for the oppressed sections of the society and empower
the campuses to mark a new dawn in the history of Students Activism.
Campus Front of India was formed as a result of the series of
discussions held by student organizations which were active in
taking up social issues in various parts of the country, release
pointed out.
"Students are considered as an
important section which can play a crucial role in building the
society. Students are the privileged section of the society who has
the power of education, vision and knowledge with them which is
denied to most of the marginalized sections of the society.
Unfortunately we have seen a decline in student activism among
students for the last few decades. Students movements once
considered one of the most powerful catalyst of any cause have now
turned into mere pawns of their political mentors. In this critical
juncture Campus Front will strive for the revival of student’s power
and motivate students to lead social movements", the release stated.
