Mumbai:
Though a day behind the schedule, Huwaida Arraf, the Palestinian
lady who has devoted her life for the Palestinian cause finally arrived in
Mumbai at 03:00 in the morning on September 26.
Huwaida Arraf is on a week long visit
to India as part of her campaign to garner supports from the
governments as well as the civil societies around the world to end
more than three years Gaza-Blockade by the occupant Israeli forces,
says Awami Bharat president Feroze Mithiborwala.
Feroze with his friends and in
association with other NGOs is coordinating Huwaida Arraf's Indian
campaign.
Kick starting her Indian campaign from Mumbai this Saturday, Huwaida
met various people in the city. Later in the evening, she addressed a press conference at
Mumbai Press Club.
“Israel has blocked Gaza from land,
air and sea, and does not allow even basic supplies from tea and
coffee to school and re-construction materials to reach the people",
Huwaida said while addressing the media and urged for the formation
of an Indo-Palestinian Solidarity Movement to force the Israel to
end its more than three years Gaza Blockade.
Gaza is 45 kilometers by 8 kilometers
strip and the life for about 1.5 million Palestinians have become a
hell due to Israeli blockade, Huwaida explored while addressing the
media on "Crisis within Gaza".

"What
Israel is doing since last so many years is against every
international law and is contradiction of all UN resolutions. Its
actions are inhuman to say the least. Yet not only the various
governments in the world, but barring few people the entire civil
society is a mute spectator to what is happening to poor
Palestinians" |
The only access to Gaza since the
Israel began its illegal blockade is Egypt-Palestine underground
tunnel that is closed most of the time reasoning the arms are being
imported through this tunnel, she said. "This has left the
Palestinian with no option but die."
"What Israel is doing since last so
many years is against every international law and is contradiction
of all UN resolutions. Its actions are inhuman to say the least. Yet
not only the various governments in the world, but barring few
people the entire civil society is a mute spectator to what is
happening to poor Palestinians", wondered Huwaida Arraf.
"People power always makes a
difference. We need to break the deafening silence if we want to
bring the inept Israeli Government to its knees", she said.
This is Huwaida's second visit to
India. Earlier she had visited India sometimes in 2002.
Huwaida Arraf came to the limelight
after she traveled to Gaza in July this year on a ship carrying tons
of food grains, medicines and other rehabilitation and
reconstruction kits for Palestinian families, will be visiting India
in the next few days.
Huwaida Arraf is planning a second
trip to Gaza by small ships in November this year. Various
activists, prominent world citizens and parliamentarians in various
countries have already agreed to be part of this Free Gaza Boat
Movement (FGBM).
As part of her week-long Indian
campaign, Huwaida will be in Mumbai for one more day. She will be
addressing a public meeting at Islam Gymkhana at Marine Lines in
Mumbai today evening before leaving to New Delhi Monday morning.
In New Delhi Huwaida has scheduled
meetings with 15-20 parliamentarians besides meetings with various
NGOs. President of All Indian Majlise Mushawerat (AIMM) Dr. Zafarul
Islam Khan is coordinating Huwaiad's New Delhi visit.
