Dr. Mobin Siddiki in his consulting room

The rioters in Maharashtra town of Dhule looted and ransacked Dr. Mobin Siddiki's Urology Clinic before setting the operation theater on fire. A well-known and highly respected Uro-Surgeon of the region Dr. Mobin Siddiki along with treating the patients on nominal charges in his own hospital was phenomenal in setting Servojanik Charitable Hospital in Dhule. The hospital is providing free surgeries and medicines for the poor and needy people in the region. Despite incurring heavy losses Dr. Mobin Siddiki pledges to continue with the good work.

Dhule, the Maharashtra town in Khandesh region witnessed severe clashes between the two communities that continued for almost a whole week. 10 people have died and more than four hundred people have been injured in the trouble that began on Sunday October 5, 2008.  Looting, arson, acid attacks and heavy stone pelting were order of the day as the riots continued unabated till Thursday October 9. Properties worth crores of rupees were damaged in this town which never has any such history in post independence India. Hundreds of houses were plundered before the rioters set them on fire. Thousands of people are still living in temporary camps formed inside the National Urdu High School and other places as they have lost almost everything in the riots. Some of them are afraid to return back fearing the attacks once again.

The rioters did not spare even the hospitals. Few of the prominent hospitals including Dr. Mobin's Urology Clinic, Dr. Pervez Mazumdar's Hospital and Mutha Hospital with proven track records of serving the people irrespective of the religions were attacked and plundered by what the officials termed as the anti-social elements.

Dr. Mobin Siddiki was treating the riot victims at Servojanik Hospital when he was informed of the attack on his Urology Clinic located at Station Road in Dhule. "Let them do whatever  they want. My top priority now is to treat these patients", Dr. Mobin Siddiki said to his friend Zainulabdin an architect who informed him of the incident. For hours, eyewitnesses say, the rioters looted the hospitals, took all the medicines from the medical store, broke the staircase leading to the first floor and then set the operation theatre on fire.

The scene at Dr. Mobin Siddiki's Urology Clinic was heartbreaking as we visited the place and normally very ebullient Dr. Siddiki was in a very somber mood. "They have destroyed my hospital but have not able to kill my desire to serve the people", Dr. Mobin Siddiki says while speaking with ummid.com and pledges to continue with the good work.

" These are the senseless people ought to damage the society. What kind of message I can give to them?" Dr. Siddiki  wonders when requested to give any message to the people who had done the damage to the hospital.

Surely people who are dividing the nation for their narrow political gains will never succeed till people like Dr. Mobin Siddiki are alive in the country.

Sare Jahan Se Accha

Hindustan Hamara

In 1905 more than 100 years from today, when Iqbal was a lecturer at the Government College, Lahore he was invited by his student Lala Hardayal to preside over a function. Instead of making a speech, Iqbal sang Sare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara in his style. Iqbal compiled this poem in praise of India and the poem preaches the communal harmony that had unfortunately started ceasing in India by that time. Each and every word in this poem depicts an Indian’s respect and love for the motherland and the values the Indian society inherited for long...Read Full
