New Delhi:
Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday took objection
to BJP chief Nitin Gadkari's take on saffron terrorism saying, he
should first explain why RSS activists are involved in terrorist
activities.
"Gadkari can go on and on to say that saffron terrorism does not
exist but he should first tell us why RSS activists take part in
terrorist activities?" Singh said.
"His (Gadkari's) remarks will serve no purpose", he added.
The BJP leader at a press conference yesterday had said that there
was no such thing as saffron terrorism and claimed that for the
Congress, secularism only meant appeasement of minorities.
Gadkakri was reacting on a comment
made by Home Minister P Chidambaram who while addressing senior
police officers' conference in New Delhi said, there is recently
uncovered phenomenon of saffron terrorism that has been implicated
in many bomb blasts of the past.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha today adjourned
till noon after BJP and Shiv Sena MPs led by opposition leader Arun
Jaitly reportedly disrupted the proceeding of the house over
Chidamabarm's remarks, saying the minister was
talking about "an imaginary phenomenon of terror" that does not
exist.
BJP and Shiv Sena MPs were also
critical of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Ram Vilas Paswan
who said, Chidambaram
had made the remarks as a responsible minister and the phenomenon of
"saffron terror" existed and demanded a ban on the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang
Dal.
