Muslim Intellectuals reject Taliban Ban on Female Education

Malegaon: Come January 25 and the girl-students at Kulliyah Aisha Siddiqua at Mansoora in Malegaon will find them in the new college building.

"The new college building for the girl-students, the construction for which was on since last one year, is complete and it will be inaugurated on January 25 this Monday", said Secretary Jamia Mohammadia Education Society (JMES) Arshad Mukhtar.

"The new building will be inaugurated by noted Scholar and Editor of Sirat-e-Mustaqueem, Birmingham (UK) Maulana Abdul Hadi at 10:00 in the morning", he added.

Secretary of Milli Council Maulana Abdul Wahab Khilji, President Jamiat Ahle Hadees Greater Mumbai Maulana Abdus Salama Salafi and  President Jamiat Ahle Hadees  Maharashtra Dr. Saeed Ah Faizee will grace the occasion as chief guests, he said.

The inauguration of the new building is expected to double the number of girl-students currently studying in the college.

The inaugural function to be held on January 25 will follow a Seminar on the Importance of Education specially Female Education. It will be held at the Mansoora Auditorium, he added.

"The purpose of organising this seminar is to highlight the importance of education and to create an awareness among the Muslim masses", Arshad Mukhtar said, "This is no secret that Islam clearly directs its followers - whether male or female - to acquire knowledge. The first Ayah that was revealed to the Holy Prophet was ‘Iqra’. The word in itself is a clear directive for every Muslim irrespective of their genders to acquire education", he said

Founded in 1979, Jamia Mohammadia Education Society (JMES) runs a chain of Educational Institutions in India. The society follows a specially designed syllabus that covers both Islamic and Modern education.

Beginning from Malegaon, the society now has its educational activities in Banglore, Maunath Bhanjan, Aakot and Dhule.

At every location, it has special arrangements and  well-furnished and suitable hostel facilities for girl-students.

All the JMES institutes are recognised by the respective education boards in the states. The JMES students after completing their course from Mansoora and other branches are eligible for admission at Jamia Islamia Madinah Munawwara, Saudi Arabia and Jamia Islamia, New Delhi.

The JMES is also trying to obtain affiliation from other Indian and foreign Universities, said Arshad Mukhtar.
