Bill on child sexual abuse likely in monsoon session: Moily

Sunday, July 04, 2010 04:15:49 PM, PTI

Chennai: A Bill to introduce a new law to effectively deal with child sexual abuse cases is likely to be introduced in the monsoon session of Parliament, Union Law and Justice Minister M Veerappa Moily today said.

"The draft for the bill is in the advanced stage... We hope to introduce it in the next session of Parliament," Moily told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

To a question on making 'Tamil' as the court language in the Madras High Court, he said the judiciary had to take a view on it.

"We have already taken up the matter... and it is a matter on which judiciary has to take a view," he said.

On honour killings, he said suitable modifications would be made in the relevant law to make it more stringent.
