Srinagar/ New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to help end violence in the state.

Abdullah had a telephonic conversation with Chidambaram on Sunday night.

The conversation came in the backdrop of increasing violence in the Kashmir Valley over the death of youths in police firing in Sopore area.

Expressing concern over civilians becoming victims of police action in the Kashmir Valley, Abdullah invited Chidambaram to visit the state.

According to sources, Chidambaram is likely to visit the Kashmir Valley in a day or two.

Both Chidambaram and Abdullah agreed on the need to bring an immediate end to the cycle of violence.

There was tension in Sopore after CRPF personnel fired rubber bullets on a stone-pelting mob that had defied curfew in Sopore town on Sunday, killing a 20-year-old youth Bilal Ahmed Wani.
