Top Muslim clerics to take part in Ittehad-e-Millat Convention in Bhopal on May 23

Bhopal: Keeping aside their sectarian differences and rivalries Muslim Ulema (clerics) of various sects from all over India would come on one platform for the sake of welfare of Muslim Ummah at large here in Bhopal on May 23 at Noor-us-Saba Hotel.


Muslim clerics from all sects of the community including Deobandi, Barelvi, Shia, Sunni and others would participate in the daylong conference. The Muslim clerics along with scholars, intellectuals and would put down their heads together to give a serious thought to the burning problems affecting the Muslim community and exercise their gray-matter to find its solutions. These personalities are converging under the banner of Ittehad-e-Millat (Unity of the community) Convention.


Addressing a joint Press conference here chairman of reception committee of the convention Arif Masood, who is member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, and convenor Manzar Bhopali, the international poet, told newspersons that the clerics, Islamic scholars and intellectuals will indulge in brainstorming to arrive at a solution as how to uplift the Muslim Ummah which is in the doldrums since long.


They said that the clerics and intellectuals would discuss among other aspects on Sachar Committee recommendations, Rangnathan Committee recommendations and the current condition and future direction for the Muslim community.


The duo said Maulana Peer Mohammed Saeed Miyan Mujaddadi, Rector Dar-ul-Uloom Taj-ul-Masajid, Bhopal and Maulana Mufti Abdul Razzaq Qasmi, vce president Jamiat-ul-Ulema-e-Hind, will preside over the two sessions of the convention. This would be the fourth of the series of total six such convention. Earlier, two were held at Lucknow and one at Mumbai and the remaining two after Bhopal would be organized at Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.


After the completion of all the six conventions, a meeting of all the leading clerics and intellectuals would be held to consider the recommendations and suggestions received during the conferences and a draft of line of action would be prepared, the duo informed.


Masood said that those who have already given their consent to attend the day-long conference includes Moulana Kalbe Jawad, Siraj Mehdi, Athar Nabi, Zafaryab Jilani, Mahesh Bhatt, Syed Kirmani, Bekal Utsahi, Aziz Burney and Shoeb Ilyasi. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Daily who is executive member of Ittehad-e-Millat Convention, is also likely to attend the convention.


The principal of world-renowned seminary Nadwat-ul-Uloom Maulana Saeed-ur-Rehman Azmi, noted Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad and Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli are the patrons of Ittehad-e-Millat Convention. While Siraj Mehdi and Adv. Athar Nabi are president and general secretary respectively of the organization.
