Chennai: The president of the Indian National League, Mohammed Sualiman, blamed Home Minister P Chidambaram and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee for the attack on the Gyaneshwari Express in West Midnapore and urged the Prime Minister to drop Chidambaram from the Cabinet.
“Chidambaram cannot decide what his own stand is on how to deal with the Maoists. He has to make up his mind”, said Sulaiman.
He added that the current situation is deeply anti-national, anti-sovereign declaration of war by the Maoists.
“These people cannot be reformed. They have to be dealt with firmly,” he said.
Referring to Mamata Banerjee, Sulaiman said: “This lady has no mamta. She took around 12 hours to get to the accident site. This shows she does not care what happens”.
Meanwhile, Indian Union League state president Syed Inayatullah appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to change the Samacheer Kalvi (common syallabus) plan to provide room for study of languages other than Tamil and English, such as Telugu, Urdu or Hindi.
“The high-level of proficiency in Tamil, which Samacheer Kalvi pushes for, will in no way help the people of the state. It is a good thing that the government did not leave English out, but do we still need to be up in arms against Hindi?” said Inayatullah.
