New Delhi:
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organised a
training programme on micro- and macro-economics for personnel of
the Indian Statistical Service (ISS), a statement said Tuesday.
The programme was conducted in association with the National
Academy of Statistical Administration (NASA) for its ISS
personnel.
"About 37 ISS probationers participated in the training. It is for
the first time that we were assigned this important training,"
said Narayan Prasad, economics professor at the varsity.
"Yoga and two days' educational tour were also part of the
training," he added.
According to the varsity, 41 lectures were delivered during the
training in mid-July, with participation from senior economists of
the country.
"All the ISS probationers were evaluated through a written test,
followed by distribution of certificates among the participants,"
said the statement.
The feedback on the training programme was also obtained from the
participants.
IGNOU, which started with two courses and 4,000 students in 1985,
now offers around 450 programmes and has around three million
students on its rolls.
