Malegaon:
A CBI team led by SP range officer arrived in Malegaon - the
Muslim dominated textile town in North Maharashtra January 20 to
re-investigate the serial blast that occurred on September 8,
2006.
It visited the blast sites and
interacted with few of the victims and other people.
"A 5-6 member CBI team arrived at
Hamidia Masjid, Bada Qabristan at around 01:40 in the afternoon
and inspected the site where the bomb blast had taken place",
Maulana Ab Bari Qasmi, the Imam of the Masjid said while speaking
to ummid.com.
The CBI team also visited the
Mushawerat chowk where another blast had taken place after few
minutes on the same day.
Following the confession of Swami
Aseemanand, a right wing Hindu activist, about the involvement of
Hindu militants organisations in the 2006 Malegaon blast, the CBI
had sought permission to re-investigate the case. The court
granted CBI the permission to re-investigate January 13 last week.
32 people had been killed and more
than 300 were injured when a series of blasts struck
Malegaon on September 08 in 2006 ahead of Shab-e-Barat, a
Muslim festival when thousands of people were busy offering Friday
prayers at the Hamidia Masjid.
