Jammu: More than 20
million Indians across 100 remote and inaccessible districts and
in 33 cities with more than a million population will be screened
for diabetes and cancer, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said
Saturday.
"In all, more than 20 crore (20 million) people would be screened
in the next 14 months. This is going to be the largest-ever
exercise undertaken in the world so far," Azad announced at an
interaction at the Jammu Press Club.
"This pilot project will be completed in next 14 months," he said,
adding this was being done as India was emerging as "a hub of
cancer and diabetes" in the world.
