UAE to host inaugural Middle East fragrance summit

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates will host the inaugural two-day "Middle East Fragrance Summit 2011" in September, it was announced Sunday.

"The Middle East's fragrance market has not been affected by the region's economic slowdown," Shahzad Haidar, chairman of the Fragrance Foundation Arabia, said during a press conference.

The event, to be held in Dubai September 26-27, is envisaged at elevating fragrance industry knowledge, market information and opportunities between Middle Eastern and global players.

According to Laila Suhail, chief executive officer of Dubai Events '&' Promotions, which is supporting the event, the fragrance industry is among the biggest sectors in Dubai and the UAE.
