Explosion near UN office in Syria

Damascus: An explosive device Sunday ripped through a garage in front of Dama Rose Hotel, where a UN political office is housed, in the Syrian capital of Damascus, witnesses said.

The blast was so powerful that it shattered windows of the heavily-fortified hotel, a witness told Xinhua, adding that some people in the vicinity were injured.
