Mumbai: Petrol and
diesel stations all over Mumbai and Maharashtra Tuesday withdrew
their 'single shift' agitation following an assurance by oil
companies on their demand for enhanced commission, an official
said Tuesday.
"We received their written assurance around midnight that the
matter of enhanced commission and related issues was on the verge
of being finalized. They also requested us to withdraw our
agitation as it was inconveniencing millions of people,"
Federation of All Maharashtra Petrol Dealers Association (FAMPEDA)
president A.S. Dikshit told IANS.
Accordingly, Tuesday morning, all 3,700 petrol and diesel stations
across the state and another 290 in Mumbai returned to normal
three shift operations, Dikshit said.
Since midnight of Sunday-Monday, all the petrol stations in the
state resorted to a single shift agitation, vending petrol and
diesel only between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., throwing normal life out of
gear.
The impact of the unprecedented agitation was seen in the form of
long snaky queues of vehicles and angry drivers during the morning
and evening peak hours Monday at most petrol pumps in the city and
suburbs.
