Pimpri: Lata Salve, Anjana Gaikwad and Gyaneshwar Pawar are among the 14 All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidates who filed their nomination papers along with 2,388 candidates on Friday - the last day of filing nominations for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections.
While Lata Salve and Gyaneshwar Pawar have been nominated by the AIMIM from Prabhag 09, Anjana Gaikwad has been fielded from Prabhag 19, according to AIMIM Pune Unit Chief Waseem Shaikh.
The other two AIMIM candidates fielded from Prabhag 09 are Ratanrekha Navnath Kamde and Abdul Munaf.
Vinod Jagannath Gaikwad and Ranjana Gyaneshwar Ovhad have been fielded by Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM from Prabhag 11 and Prabhag 22 respectively.
The AIMIM which is contesting the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections for the first time has fielded Jyotsina Sudhakar Mhaske, Shahnawaz Shaikh, Maimoona Zaheer Shaikh and Suraj Chandrakant Gaikwad from Prabhag 13.
Kalucharan Patode, Shakila Shaikh and Alam Yousuf Shaikh are AIMIM candidates from Prabhag 30.
A total of 2,388 nominations were filed for the 128 seats in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), till Friday - the last day. The election for Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will be held on February 21.
The last day to withdraw is February 07. The Election Commission will release the final list of candidates with symbols on February 08.
Along with AIMIM, political parties - the ruling Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena, BJP, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Congress also released their list of candidates late in the evening Friday.
The Congress nominated fresh candidates after seven of its 14 corporators switched to the NCP last month.
According to Yashwant Mane, Assistant Commissioner, Municipal Elections, 1,785 nominations were filed on Friday alone.
