A tale of two encounters: Dehradun and Batla House

Jamia Nagar (New Delhi):  Jamia Teachers’ Solidarity Association (JTSA) is organising a Torch Light Procession on the eve of 1st anniversary of Batla House Encounter.

 

JTSA is demanding ‘Judicial Probe into Batla House Encounter’, ‘speedy justice for the accused and arrested youths’ and ‘an end to communal stereotyping and minority witch hunting in the name of War against Terror’. 

 

The march will start from Khallillullah Masjid from 6:45 onwards on 18th September. JTSA has also appealed to everyone to wear black bands to protest 'encounter killings' and to observe 19th September as Black Day.


On 19th September, 2009, in the month of Ramadan, L-18 encounter had taken place. Four students were arrested and three were killed on the spot.


Faculty members of Nelson Mandela Centre for Conflict Analysis and Peace Building, Jamia Millia Islamia are actively involved.
