Heavy downpour in
Malegaon after people offered special prayers for rain

ummid.com Staff Reporter
Video: Thousands of people
gathered today at Eid gah ground in Malegaon to offer special
prayers for rain.
Special
Prayers for rain
Namaz-e-Istesqa as the special
prayer for rain is called in Arabic is a tradition of Prophet
Mohammad (peace
and blessings be upon him). According to the sources in Islam,
Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him) during his
life had offered the special prayer and prayed to Allah for rain. It
is following this tradition that Muslims around the world offer this
prayer whenever rain eludes them. All Kind and Generous, Allah
Almighty also listens to their prayers and descends useful rain
after the prayers.
Since last few years in
Malegaon rain hit the town after people offered special prayers for
rain. This has become so customary that even the non-Muslims began
believing in this special prayers.
Malegaon:
Heavy downpour is recorded in Malegaon since yesterday afternoon after thousands of
people assembled at the outskirt of the town and offered special
prayers for rain.
Special prayers for the rain, also
called as Namaz-e-Istesqa, was called by Jamiatul Ulema
Malegaon after draught and delayed monsoon threatened the country.
The call was supported by almost all the religious groups in the
town.
"Two months after the monsoon hit the
town exactly on June 7 when enough rain continued to elude the
region and the situation threatened whole of the country, we decided
to offer special prayers for rain following the tradition of Prophet
Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him)", Jamiatul Ulema local
secretary Maulana Ab Qayyum Qasmi said to ummid.com before adding,
"We offer our gratitude to Allah now that the rain actually hit the
town and since yesterday afternoon it is going on unabated."
Accepting the call given by Jamiatul
Ulema Malegaon, more than hundred thousand people had gathered at
the Eid gah ground in Malegaon on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to
offer the special prayers for rain. Their prayers were heard when
heavy downpour finally hit the town yesterday afternoon.
"The rain that began yesterday
afternoon continued during the whole night and today morning. Though it
is still not sufficient but the fact that it covered not only entire
Malegaon but the whole region around the town is a kind of relief
after almost two months of desiccation", said the official at the
local weather department.
When after offering Namaz-e-Istesqa,
the special prayer for rain, for consecutive two days, heavy rain
finally hit the town yesterday afternoon, Jamiatul Ulema called off the third day's
prayer as it was previously planned. However people gathered at the
same place once again and offered the prayer today morning also.
"After yesterday's rain, we had called
off today's prayer following the tradition of the prophet (peace and
blessings be upon him). We had also appealed the people to offer thanksgiving
prayers instead at the respective mosques in their localities. But since
people gathered here, we are offering the prayers today to pray to
the Almighty for thanksgiving and further continuation of useful
rain", Mufti Ismail who led today's prayers said while addressing
the people.
