New Delhi: Alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will set up a health camp April 12-14 for the pilgrims attending the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, a statement by the group said Friday.
Sir Syed Forum, as the group is called, set up a similar health camp March 15-16 to provide medical facilities to the pilgrims.
"The forum's decision to take this small step is in keeping with the views and teachings of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and his followers who strongly believed in joint participation in all social and religious functions to strengthen bonds of Indian unity and harmony," S. Husain Waheed, the group's convenor, said.
"The forum set up a health camp during the second Shahi Snan on March 15-16 and proposes to set up few similar camps during the Mesha Sankranti Shahi Snan April 12-13 at Purkazi and April 13-14 in Haridwar," he added.
"The teaching staff association and non-teaching staff association of AMU, Red Crescent Society of India, Mumbai, Raza Academy, Mumbai and Himalaya Drugs are some of the organisations supporting the initiative and helping in mobilizing doctors, medicines and refreshments," the statement further said.
