He was speaking in a meeting discussing challenges confronting India's rural sector, at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) here.

Some people in rural areas live better life than those in the urban areas, he added.

Gandhi was here as a participant for a consultation on the theme, "The Challenges of Negotiating India's Rural Transformation: Evolving strategies for IRMA's Response", Chief Administrative Officer, IRMA, Poonam Patel said.

The other participants at the two-day consultation that ended today included Prof Abhijit Sen, Member of Planning Commission, Prof S Parasuraman, Director, TISS, and other experts working in the rural sector.

According to sources, Rahul spoke about how there was a need to leave behind the old concepts of rural development.
