Chandigarh: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi Friday interacted with students at various educational institutes in Hisar, Kurukshetra and Karnal districts of Haryana and urged them to join politics so as to weed out corruption in the system.

"I urge today's youth to join Indian politics. If they want to bring a change in the society or to clean the system, then they have to take the initiative. We have to make full use of youth power in the overall development of the country," he said , while interacting with students in NDRI.

Answering a question about corruption in the system at Karnal's National Dairy Research Institute, he said it is not that everybody is corrupt but honest people also get embroiled in things they have not done at times, a student who attended the session declared out of bounds for the media, said.

Elaborate security arrangements were made at Kurukshetra University in Kurukshetra, and at National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) in Karnal, to ensure smooth conduct of interaction between Gandhi and the students.

Media persons were not allowed to interact with the Congress leader and their entry was also restricted at the interaction venues.

"Development in science and technology will play a crucial role in the growth of the country," he added.

There were many disappointed students, who were not allowed to enter the interaction venue, in the wake of huge rush.

Commencing his day-long visit from Hissar where he addressed students at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), the young leader proceeded to Kurukshetra University to address a similar gathering there and later to Karnal where he met the youth on the campus of the National Dairy Research Institute.

Meanwhile, student wings of rival political outfits protested with one of them terming the visit as an attempt to politicize the community.
