Mumbai: A Mumbai
court will Aug 8 deliver its verdict in cases related to two
blasts in Maharashtra's Thane and Raigad districts in 2008 in
which six people, some allegedly linked to Hindu group Sanatan
Sanstha, are the accused.
Though there were no deaths in the two incidents, several people
were injured in the low intensity blasts.
On Feb 20, 2008, there was a bomb blast in Cineraj Cinema at
Panvel town in Raigad district where Hindi film "Jodhaa Akbar" was
being screened.
On June 4, an explosion took place in Thane's Gadkari Rangayatan
where Marathi film "Amhi Pachpute" - which allegedly depicted
Hindu gods in an objectionable manner - was being screened.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested six people and
charged them under penal provisions for attempt to murder,
criminal conspiracy and provisions of Unlawful Activities
(Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act.
The accused are: Ramesh Gadkari, Mangesh Nikam, Vikram Bhave,
Santosh Angre, Haribhau Divekar and Hemant Chalke.
