Abu Dhabi: Temporary contractual Indian workers in the UAE have a remarkable
impact on the living conditions of their families back home in
India, says a report by a US organisation.
The study was conducted by the Centre for Global Development (CGD)
              in the US.

A seminar was held at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies
and Research in collaboration with the ministry of labour and the
              CGD.

The seminar discussed the findings of the study which aimed to
measure the developmental impact of Indian workers in the UAE.

The Indian community in the UAE, numbering around 1.75 million,
constitutes 30 percent of the total population of the country. It
is the largest expatriate community in the UAE.

However, only 15-20 percent of the
Indian community is made up of professionally qualified personnel,
while 65 percent are employed in construction, municipalities and
agricultural farms, according to the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi.
