Plane with 1.5 ton gold held in Turkey

Sunday January 06, 2013 05:12:39 PM, RIA Novosti

Moscow: A cargo plane carrying 1.5 ton of gold from Ghana to Dubai has been held at Istanbul airport for four days due to missing documents, a media report said Sunday.

The Airbus-A300 F type cargo, belonging to a Turkish airline, arrived at Ataturk Airport Jan 1 for refuelling, the Hurriyet Daily News reported.

The plane was locked up and sealed after the crew failed to present the necessary documents. Some reports said the plane came from Algeria and was destined for another country.
